Wagrain Castle is located in Vöcklabruck-Wagrain in the Austrian state of Upper Austria. Originally a noble residence, it now serves as an educational institution.

History+

The first documented mention of Wagrain Castle dates back to 1135. From 1447, the property passed to the Engl family. Maximilian I elevated the estate to a Hofmark in 1499, and the existing structure was replaced by a new building. With a brief interruption in 1620 due to religious conflicts, the castle remained in the possession of the Engl family, who were elevated to the rank of count in 1717, until the 20th century. After the death of the last male descendant, Count Siegmund Engl, in 1910, his daughter married into the von Spiegelfeld family.
