On the northern edge of Ebbs in Tyrol stands Wagrain Castle. Originally built as a noble residence, it served the region.

History+

The first documented mention of Wagrain Castle occurred in 1421, when it served as the residence of the Lords of Ebbs. It is believed that the origin of the structure, a three-story residential tower, dates back to the 14th century. The Lords of Ebbs held important positions as judges on behalf of the Bavarian dukes and even provided the Bishop of Chiemsee, Johann Ebser, between 1429 and 1438. The lineage ended with the death of Ludwig Ebser in 1494. Twenty years prior, they had sold Wagrain to Friedrich Reichertzhaimer, a relative from Schönstett near Wasserburg.
