Wahn Castle (Köln)

The origins of Wahn Castle date back to 1358, when it was first documented as a moated castle owned by the von Revelen family. This early complex included a residential tower, gatehouse, moat, and outer bailey. In the 15th century, the castle passed into the possession of the von Loë family, before becoming the property of the von Zweiffel family from 1522. A mercenary army destroyed Wahn moated castle by fire in 1588. From 1685, the noble family von Schall took over the estate and in 1757 initiated the conversion of the castle into the late Baroque palace. In 1785, the castle came into the possession of the Heereman von Zuydtwyck family.
