Schloss Waizenbach, originally conceived as a moated castle, now presents itself as an example of Renaissance architecture in the district of Waizenbach.

History+

The origins of Schloss Waizenbach date back to around 1570, when Dietz von Thüngen commissioned its construction in the Renaissance style. The estate underwent a change in 1733 when it was converted into an evangelical noble women's convent and served as its seat thereafter. During World War II, the castle suffered damage from a fire. In the subsequent reconstruction, the originally tall baroque spire helmets were not restored. The convent formally still exists today and is administered by the Barons Truchseß zu Wetzhausen.
