To be privately owned
Waldershof Castle

The castle was probably built around 1100 by the Lords of Waltershoven as a moated castle. The foundations preserved today date back to the 13th century. Further owners were the Landgraves of Leuchtenberg and the Lords of Hirschenberg. From 1263-1802, the castle served as the seat of the monastic district judge of Waldsassen Abbey. The current complex was built between 1459-71. In 1802, in the course of secularization, ownership passed to the Elector of Bavaria. In 1805, ownership changed to the market town of Waldershof, which distributed buildings and land to private individuals.
