Waldfeucht Castle

The former moated castle complex from the 17th/18th century is medieval in its core. The year 1710 adorns the facade in the anchor splints. The outbuildings were built later. Today, the municipal administration uses the building.

Archaeological findings suggest that the site was already fortified in the High Middle Ages. A wooden motte-and-bailey castle likely stood here, protecting a ford across the nearby river.

In the 16th century, the wooden fortifications were replaced by a stone castle. The current appearance largely dates back to the extensive Baroque renovations in the early 18th century, which included the addition of the impressive main gate and the ornate facade.

After serving as a private residence for centuries, the castle was acquired by the municipality in the mid-20th century. Following extensive restoration, it now houses the local administration, providing a unique blend of historical ambiance and modern functionality.
