In Saarburg is Warsberg Castle, which today serves as a central administrative seat.

History+

The origins of the current Warsberg Castle date back to the 14th century, when a knight's residence of the von der Leyen family stood on this site. In 1557, Archbishop and Elector Johann VI. von der Leyen transferred the building to the von Warsberg family, who used it for nine generations and served in Electoral Trier and later in Prussian capacities. In 1847, the Saarburg District Office first rented rooms in the Warsberghaus.
