In Rorschacherberg, Canton St. Gallen, Wartensee Castle is a building complex whose origins date back to a 13th-century residential tower. Today, it serves as a conference and meeting center and is an example of Neo-Gothic architecture.

History+

The castle's history began in 1243 with the construction of a residential tower by Knight Heinrich von Wartensee. In 1377, ownership transferred to the brothers Walter and Diethelm Blarer from St. Gallen through the marriage of two descendants. The Blarer von Wartensee family owned the estate until 1719 and expanded the complex into a triple residence. Between 1843 and 1853, a redesign by the son of composer Robert Lucas Pearsall de Willsbridge gave the castle its current Neo-Gothic appearance and surrounding parkland.
