Wasserburg Castle, a Renaissance structure, rises on a peninsula on Lake Constance in Bavaria. It was originally built on the site of a medieval castle.

History+

The origins of the castle date back to the Middle Ages, when a castle belonging to the Lords of Schellenberg stood on this site. Between 1537 and 1555, the Counts of Montfort had a three-winged Renaissance castle built. A fire on February 17, 1750, completely destroyed the west wing, which was subsequently not rebuilt. Since 1812, the property has been in the private possession of the Köberle family.
