Castle Weidenburg
In the southeast of the municipality of Kötschach-Mauthen in Carinthia, Austria, Weidenburg Castle, a structure from the 16th century, rises. It is known for its simple, cubic architecture and its connection to the nearby Weidenburg Castle Ruin.
History+
The first documented mention of Weidenburg Castle dates to 1615, when Paul Khevenhüller sold the estate to Christof Khrayl. In the following decades, ownership changed again, and from 1630 until approximately the mid-18th century, the castle was owned by the Fromiller family. The current building, a three-story cube with a hip roof, dates from the 16th century.

Today, Weidenburg Castle is privately owned. It is a three-story, cubic building with a hip roof. A chapel is attached to the east side, a rectangular building with a square tower projecting into the choir. This chapel underwent restoration and adaptation in 1994 and 1995.
