Weidenkam Castle

The origins of the Weidenkam grounds can be traced back to 945, when it was documented as "Wittichenheim" and consisted of two farms. In 1875, a member of the Franck family acquired the estate, only to sell it two years later to Eduard Rosenthal. It later passed to Baroness von Reizenstein, who had a small castle built in the English style. After further changes of ownership, including Hermann Graf Wedel and the industrialist Georg Käs, his daughter Maria Käs, later Countess von Tattenbach, acquired the property. She had the current Weidenkam Castle built in Art Nouveau style between 1911 and 1913. Countess Tattenbach, in the 1930s, allowed the castle to be used for conferences of the Religious-Philosophical Study Group, founded by Herman Weidelener.
