Weihenstephan Castle, a historic structure with Baroque architecture and a moat, is located in a district of Hohenthann and is now privately owned.

History+

The first documented mention of Weihenstephan Castle dates back to 1229, when it held the status of a Hofmark. The current Baroque complex was built in the 17th century under Georg Carl Freiherr von Etzdorf auf Weihenstephan und Stamsried, on the site of an older predecessor building. In the 18th century, the castle underwent further alterations. In August 2006, a fire broke out in the outbuildings, causing damage and necessitating partial demolition.
