In Waren (Müritz) stands Weinberg Castle, a historicist villa built in the 1870s. It once housed a natural history museum and the collections of a folklorist.

History+

The construction of Weinberg Castle was carried out in the 1870s by the Waren architect Gustav Werner and completed in October 1875. The client was Hermann von Maltzan. Already in autumn 1875, the Malzaneum Natural History Museum moved into the premises, but had to vacate after the sale of the house in 1876. In 1877, Herrmann Bachstein acquired the building, which thereafter served as the headquarters for a construction directorate of the Mecklenburg Southern Railway.
