Weißenbrunn Castle

The earliest, though not fully confirmed, mentions of Weißenbrunn date back to the early Middle Ages, with references to the years 804 and 1177. The first confirmed documentary evidence dates to 1232, when “Wisenbrunnen,” owned by the Lords of Raueneck, was assigned to the parish of Ebern. During the Peasants' War in 1525, the original noble seat was destroyed. Later, the lordship belonged to the Lords of Fuchs. The current castle was built around 1723 by Georg Philipp von Boyneburg, after he received permission to transfer the cent-freedom to the new building site. Following financial difficulties of the Boyneburgs, the castle changed hands several times, including the families von Varell, von Hebendanz, and von Oberkamp. The latter owned the manor as a hereditary fief for four generations. In 1850, the castle was sold to Louis Ludloff, who resold it in 1852 to Adolf Huschke.
