In Wangels-Weißenhaus in the district of Ostholstein, Schleswig-Holstein, Weißenhaus Castle is situated. It is a prominent example of the stately architecture of this region.

History+

Originally, the Weißenhaus estate was part of the Farve estate district. Through an inheritance division at the beginning of the 17th century, it developed into an independent property. The estate changed hands several times, including the Rantzau and Pogwisch families. In 1739, the Counts of Platen acquired the property. Count Georg Ludwig von Platen-Hallermund used the estate, which already included a baroque manor house, as a summer residence and had a baroque garden laid out from 1741.
