Weißenstein Castle

The origins of the site date back to 1257, when a castle on the mountain spur was first mentioned. However, no remains of this original fortification are preserved. The current Weißenstein Castle, whose building fabric dates from the 15th century, entered history on June 18, 1548, when Georg III. von Rechberg und Staufeneck und Weißenstein received homage there. In the 17th century, under Count Wolf Konrad von Rechberg, the castle underwent expansions, including stepped gables, towers, bay windows, and galleries. Renovations were carried out before 1865, prior to Count Otto Ulrich von Rechberg und Rothenlöwen moving in. A two-story panel building was demolished and replaced by a terrace.
