Welsberg Castle

At the site of the castle, a fortified house with walls and moats is presumed, protected by the marshy lowlands of the Sulm Valley. Later, a feudal court was located there, which was not well suited as a manor farm due to the swampy surroundings and did not bring its owners any significant yields. In 1592, a castle precinct "am Pergl im Sulmtal" is mentioned, which extended for half an hour's (foot) walk in the vicinity. In 1679, the "guettl Pergl, now called Welspergl" was designated by Hans Adam Welser as a fideicommissum of the Welser von Welsersheimb.
