Wendgräben Castle

The commission for the construction of the castle was given by Hans Waldemar von Wulffen, a manor owner from Groß-Lübars and scion of a noble family dating back to the 10th century, associated with the town of Loburg. He entrusted the Berlin architect Hermann Muthesius with the planning and construction management. The shell was completed within two years, but the interior work extended into the 1920s. From 1938, the von Wulffen family leased the castle to the National Socialist People's Welfare, which used it as a mother's convalescent and maternity home. After World War II, from 1945 to 1947, it served as a reception camp for displaced persons.
