Wendlinghausen Castle is an estate in the Weser Renaissance style, located in Dörentrup-Wendlinghausen in the Lippe district, North Rhine-Westphalia.

History+

The origins of the Wendlinghausen estate date back to 1566, when the mercenary leader Hilmar von Münchhausen acquired the property. He had secured the entitlement to this possession, as the then Lords Rebock had no more descendants. His son, Hilmar the Younger von Münchhausen, had the current moated castle rebuilt between 1613 and 1616. The manor house rests on a foundation of oak piles, surrounded by a moat.
