Wendorf Castle

The manor house Jagdschloss Wendorf is a building erected between 1904 and 1906 in Wendorf in the district of Ludwigslust-Parchim in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The building is currently used as a five-star hotel.

The manor house in Kuhlen-Wendorf on the former knight's estate was first mentioned in 1637. It was then, and until 1895, owned by the noble family of Schack. After eight years in the possession of Otto Schondorf, he sold it in January 1904 to Ivan Mackensen von Astfeld. The new owner had the building completely rebuilt according to a design by the architect Paul Korff. The associated estate park, with an oak population up to 600 years old, was designed with the participation of Richard Hoemann. After the Second World War, the castle served as a youth home. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, it was restored and converted into a hotel, which opened in June 2009.
