Near Kuhlen-Wendorf, in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Wendorf Castle was conceived as a hunting lodge at the beginning of the 20th century. Today, it houses an exclusive hotel.

History+

The origins of the estate in Kuhlen-Wendorf date back to 1637, when a manor house on the former knight's estate was first mentioned. Until 1895, it was owned by the Counts of Schack. After a brief period under Otto Schondorf, Ivan Mackensen von Astfeld acquired the estate in January 1904. He had the existing building demolished and a new castle built between 1904 and 1906, based on designs by architect Paul Korff.
