Werdorf Castle
Between 1680 and 1700, the Baroque castle was built by the Counts of Solms-Greifenstein and served as a widow's residence and summer retreat for the comital family. From 1720, it was an entailed estate and was used several times as an educational institution since the end of the 19th century.
The three-story main building features a gabled central risalit on the north side and two dome-crowned corner towers with loopholes. On the south front, there is an entrance building from 1914, designed by the architect Carl Seiler from Braunfels.
Today, the Prince's Room is used by the Aßlar registry office as an official wedding room. Since 1982, the Museum of Local History has been housed in the other rooms.
