Weyregg Castle

The origins of Weyregg Castle date back to 1590, when Siegmund Widerroither commissioned its construction. Widerroither, who served as administrator at Kogl Castle in 1591, was elevated to knighthood in 1595 for his services on the Windisch-Croatian military frontier and was allowed to call himself “von und zu Weyregg” from 1602. As he remained childless, he sold the property in 1617 to the wife of Count Franz Christoph Khevenhüller. Later, Weyregg passed into the possession of Ida von Horvath and was united with the Kammer dominion, thereby losing significance. From 1619, the Weyregg and Kogl dominions were leased to Abraham Grünpacher.
