Wiedendorf Castle

The former moated castle in Wiedendorf dates back to the 16th century at its core. It was first mentioned in documents in 1435 and frequently changed owners. In 1934, the east wing was extended. In 1968/1969, a renovation and new construction took place, as well as a restoration of the old building. The two-story four-sided complex has window frames with twisted plinths and grooved sills on the ground floor, and window fascias with shell keystones and grooved sills on the upper floor. On the eastern narrow side of the entrance wing, there is a blind column with a volute capital and an impost with a wide, coupled blind arch, a former loggia from the 17th century (?). The barrel-vaulted passage with plastered net ribs dates from the second quarter of the 16th century. The rollers of the former drawbridge are preserved. In the courtyard, on one side, there are ground-floor arcades with cross-rib vaults resting on ashlar piers. Inside, on the ground floor, there are cross-rib and barrel vaults.
