Wiesbaden Castle

On the site of the current palace, there was already a castle in the Middle Ages, which presumably formed the origin of the city of Wiesbaden. In 1837, construction of the current palace began according to plans by Georg Moller, completed in 1841. It served Duke Adolf I of Nassau as a winter residence. After Nassau's annexation by Prussia in 1866, the palace became a royal Prussian secondary residence and was regularly used by Emperor Wilhelm II as his May residence. After World War I and the end of the monarchy, the palace served various functions, including as an administrative seat and museum. In World War II, it was damaged in an air raid in 1945. Since 1946, the palace has housed the Hessian State Parliament, which has been expanded over the years with new constructions, such as a modern plenary hall.

Wiesbaden Palace is centrally located in Wiesbaden, in the federal state of Hesse, Germany, at an elevation of approximately 131 m above sea level.

Today, Wiesbaden Palace serves as the meeting place for the Hessian State Parliament. Visitors will find a historic building that has been expanded with modern additions for parliamentary use. The original, preserved rooms are used for representative purposes.
