History+

The origins of Wildenstein Castle date back to the 16th century, when the three-winged complex was built. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the castle received additional architectural elements such as stair bay windows and gables. A change in ownership occurred in 1662, when the estate passed from the von Knöringen family to the Barons Hofer von Lobenstein. This family had left their possessions around Lobenstein Castle in Zell due to their Protestant faith.
