Schloss Wildenstein+

Schloss Wildenstein is a castle in the Wildenstein district of the municipality of Fichtenau near Crailsheim. The three-winged complex dates from the 16th century, with the stair bay and gable from the 17th/18th century. Four corner towers were demolished in the 19th century. In 1662, the castle passed from the von Knöringen family into the possession of the Barons Hofer von Lobenstein. This family had left their possessions around Burg Lobenstein in Zell due to their Protestant faith. The name component Hofer is derived from the family's ancestral seat, Burg Hof am Regen. Various ghost stories circulate about Schloss Wildenstein.
