Wildprechtroda Castle is a historic building in Thuringia. Originally a lowland castle, it was transformed into a Renaissance castle.

History+

The origins of the current Wildprechtroda Castle date back to 1330, when the locality and its lowland castle were first mentioned in a sales letter from the Dynasts of Frankenstein. Later, Sittich and Wilhelm Marschalk took over the feudal lordship and erected a fortified house, the so-called Rudolphshof, on this site. From 1432, the Lords of Buttlar also acquired shares in Wildprechtroda, with their first castle seat presumably being the original moated castle of the Frankensteins.
