Wilhelmsruh Castle (Möhnesee)

In 1891, the castle - formerly called Wilhelmsruh - was built with simple bricks by the Hamburg banking family von Donner. From 1911, it was then transformed into a representative building in the half-timbered style through several additions and alterations and provided with a tower. This half-timbered architecture defines the individual charm of the building complex and invites you to dream. The main building, with almost 2500 square meters of living and commercial space, features not only relaxation, living, and fireplace rooms but also 14 guest rooms, a swimming pool and sauna, conference rooms, a chapel, and a bowling alley.

The property alone covers around 45,000 square meters. After Baron von Donner, the castle belonged to, among others, Wilhelm von Opel, the Archdiocese of Paderborn, and the General Vicariate of the Catholic Military Bishop. The current owner is a businessman from the Netherlands. On April 1, 2007, a restaurant with hotel operations was opened in the historic premises.
