Originally a Benedictine convent, Willebadessen Castle is today a cultural center in North Rhine-Westphalia. The complex, situated at an elevation of approximately 225 meters above sea level, features Baroque architecture and houses a sculpture park.

History+

The origins of Willebadessen Castle date back to 1149, when Bishop Bernhard I von Oesede founded a Benedictine convent in an existing settlement. The convent church was consecrated to Saints Vitus, Cosmas, and Damian, as well as Mary. The town of Willebadessen was founded in 1317. After a period of decline, the convent joined the Bursfelde Congregation in 1473.
