Winkl Castle

Around the year 1500, the Lords of Wispeck had the estate built and were its first documented owners. In 1582, it was sold to Nothafft von Wernburg zu Wackerstein, the then Vicedom of Landshut from Bavaria. Franz Dückher von Hauslau acquired the property in 1657. After several further changes of ownership, the Salzburg State Fund purchased the castle in 1902 and converted it into a school. From then on, it served as an agricultural school and became known as Winklhof, with the estate being expanded to include further properties such as the Mesnerbauerngut, the Wiesenbauerngütl, and the Sattelalm.
