Wolframshof Castle

Wolframshof Castle is located in the Upper Palatinate village of Kastl. It was already mentioned in 1045 as "Villa Wolframmesdorf". The current castle was built in the 16th-17th century. In 1617, ownership passed to the Franconian noble family von Lüschwitz, who had their roots in Saxony. In 1728, the property came into the possession of the von Lindenfels family. The line of the von Lindenfels, founded by Carl Christian Ernst von Lindenfels, existed until 1982. In 1921, Wolframshof Castle burned down and was subsequently completely rebuilt.
Maria Sophia Reichsfreiin von Lindenfels was born at Wolframshof Castle in 1745. She was the mother of the German pianist and singer Therese von Zandt.
