Nursing home

On the foundations of a former moated castle in Hesse stands Wommen Castle. It is an example of the redesign of historic sites in the early 20th century and today serves a social purpose.

History+

The origins of the current Wommen Castle date back to 1911, when it was built on the remains of an earlier moated castle. Previously, in 1908, the chamberlain Rudolf von Schutzbar-Milchling acquired both the moated castle and the associated estate. For the redesign, he engaged the castle researcher and architect Bodo Ebhardt, who was also working on projects in Eisenach and at Creuzburg Castle at the time.
