In the Canton of Bern, Worb Castle is a historic structure. Originally built as a manorial seat, it evolved into regional aristocratic culture and architecture.

History+

The origins of Worb Castle date back to the 12th century, when it was built for the Barons of Worb, first mentioned in documents around 1130. In 1146, the manorial seat served as a court for Duke Konrad I of Zähringen. After the extinction of the Barons, the castle passed to Johann von Kien in 1329 and, after his death in 1352, to the von Diesbach family. A fire in 1535 necessitated a new construction.
