Wrisbergholzen Castle is a historical building located in Westfeld-Wrisbergholzen, Lower Saxony. It is known for its architectural design and its connection to the local faience manufactory, whose products can still be found in the castle today.

History+

The first documented mention of the locality Wrisbergholzen dates back to 1019. A medieval castle, whose origins are presumed around 1350 with the first mention of the Lords of Wrisberg, formed the predecessor of the current castle. This earlier complex, depicted on a 1589 local map, was built of stone, featured Renaissance forms, and was surrounded by a water-filled moat. The current Wrisbergholzen Castle was built between 1740 and 1745 under Count Johann Rudolf von Wrisberg. The Wrisberg family, documented since 1355, shaped the development of the area.
