Wrodow Castle

The origins of the estate date back to the 16th century, when the Wrodow estate was first mentioned in documents. A phase in the castle's development began in 1860, when Ludwir Neumann junior took over the manor house. He initiated the conversion into a castle-like building, which remained in the Neumann family's possession until the end of World War II. During the war, in 1943, the castle temporarily served as an alternative quarter for a Rostock grammar school, whose own building had been destroyed by bombing raids. After the war, the castle stood empty until 1990, but was saved from decay thanks to local initiatives.
