Wulkow Castle

The first mention of the locality Wulkow dates back to 1361. From 1361 to 1646, the von Schapelow family held the feudal rights to the area. From 1608 onwards, a knight's estate is documented in Wulkow. Through marriage, the property passed to Georg von Derfflinger in 1646. Following the childless death of his last son, Wulkow and Hermersdorf came into the possession of Rittmeister Georg Friedrich von Ziethen. In 1792, Albrecht Wilhelm von Pannewitz acquired the estates of Wulkow, Hermersdorf, and Trebnitz. As he also died childless, the estates passed to the von Brünneck family after the death of Wilhelmine von Pannewitz, who had married Field Marshal Wilhelm Magnus von Brünneck.
