The first documented mention of Wyher Castle dates back to 1304. Over centuries, it changed hands multiple times, remaining for long periods in the possession of the Feer family and later the Pfyffer family. A severe fire in 1964 significantly damaged the castle. After its acquisition by the Canton of Lucerne in 1965, the complex underwent comprehensive renovation and restoration between 1981 and 1996. Wyher Castle has been a protected monument since 1963.
