In the town of Ząbkowice Śląskie, formerly known as Frankenstein, stands the imposing ruin of a castle that was once a significant structure in Lower Silesia. Its history dates back to the 14th century, bearing witness to a rich past.
History+
The origins of the present castle lie in a Gothic fortress built in the 14th century. On the foundations of this older complex, Karl I of Münsterberg had the current castle constructed between 1522 and 1532. A devastating fire in 1784 destroyed large parts of the building, leading to its current ruined state.
