A historic complex dating back to the 16th century, Zandt Castle is situated in the municipality of Zandt in the Upper Palatinate district of Cham. Originally established as an episcopal fief of the Bishop of Regensburg, it reflects a long history of settlement and Christianization in the Nordgau region.

History+

The earliest mentions of Zandt date back to 1122, with the first feudal lords either bearing the place name or giving it their name. Approximately a century later, Zandt passed to the Sattelboger family from the Bavarian Forest.
