Zedtwitz Castle

The castle was built in the 15th century on the remains of a 12th-century moated castle, which was owned by the Lords of Veilsdorf. The first known inhabitant of this moated castle was Hilpald von Veilsdorf. The castle is first mentioned in a document in 1502. Here, the property was sold by the Lords of Zedtwitz to the Lords of Feilitzsch.

During the Thirty Years' War, Swedish troops were quartered at Zedtwitz Castle, which a few years later prompted Croatian troops to plunder the building. For financial reasons, the castle then had to be sold. In 1718, the castle was extended and rebuilt in the Baroque style. Approximately 100 years later, the last remains of the moated castle were torn down. During the Second World War, the owners of Zedtwitz Castle were expelled. After initially various uses, a nursing home was established here.
