Zerben Castle
Zerben Castle (also: Plotho Castle) is a manor house in Zerben (Saxony-Anhalt).
In 1847, a simple half-timbered house was converted into a neoclassical castle complex. The manor owner Wolfgang von Plotho had the house elaborately rebuilt between 1874 and 1879 into a neo-baroque three-winged building. It was adorned with a central risalit and provided with side pavilions. The complex is single-story, the roof is provided with neo-baroque gables and is located in the middle of a park.
In 1948, parts of the castle were demolished by order of the Soviet military administration. After the municipality of Zerben became the owner in 1996, it was placed under monument protection in 1998. Since 1999, the property has been gradually restored to its original form.
