Zörbig Castle
Zörbig Castle dates back to an old castle complex from the 7th century. It was a Wettin, later an Electoral Saxon complex. The castle was first mentioned in 961. In the 12th century, the castle was owned by the Counts of Brehna. The center of this early German stone castle complex was a round keep, which has been preserved to this day. In the 16th century, this was raised with a brick upper part and received its pointed high roof.
In addition to the old castle complex, which was converted into a residential castle in the 17th century under Duke August of Saxony-Merseburg, the town church of St. Mauritius can be regarded as the oldest building in the town.
The castle now houses a local history museum, a library, and rooms for citizens and associations. The castle tower can be climbed.
