Zschepplin Castle

To be privately owned

Zschepplin is already mentioned as a manor in 1242. In 1396, it was referred to as a knight's seat. In 1545, ownership passed to the von Ende family. From 1582, Zschepplin is named as a knight's estate. Ownership changed in 1579 to the von Dieskau family, in 1762 to the Counts of Brühl, and in 1775 to Baron von Bender und Loitha, who rebuilt the castle into its present form. In 1818, ownership passed to the von Mengersen family until their expropriation and expulsion by the communists in 1945. After this, the castle served as an orphanage. Since 2000, the castle has been in private ownership.
