Schaudichnichtum Lodge

The remains of the Castle can be visited

Southwest of Bad Dürkheim is the castle remnant Schaudichnichtum, once a hunting lodge of the Electoral Palatinate nobility in the 18th century. Today, only modest remains of the structure are preserved.

The hunting lodge Schaudichnichtum served the Electoral Palatinate nobility as accommodation during hunts in the Palatinate Forest in the 18th century. It was presumably built around 1730 by Baron von Hallberg from Fußgönheim, who had leased the hunting grounds from the Elector. The destruction of the estate is dated to 1793, in the wake of the French Revolution's impact on the Palatinate.
