The castle ruin of Brdo, a historic structure from the 16th century, rises on an elevation in the Slovenian region of Gorenjska. Once an important center, it now bears witness to a turbulent history and offers visitors a glimpse into past times.

The origins of the Brdo castle ruin date back to the 16th century. In the 19th century, the castle served various purposes, housing the local court, tax offices, and a prison, among other things. A significant event was the arson committed by partisans in 1943. After World War II, the then owner was denied permission to rebuild, which, along with the destroyed roof, led to progressive decay. A notable personality associated with the castle is the Slovenian writer and politician Janko Kersnik, who was born here in 1852.
