Kopaniny Castle

Kopaniny Castle stands in the Asch region, at an elevation of approximately 521 meters above sea level. This edifice, once owned by the Lords of Zedtwitz, is shining anew after years of decay.

The origins of Kopaniny Castle date back to 1537, when its initial construction is attributed to the von Zedtwitz family, a noble lineage with extensive holdings in the region. An illustration in the church of Podhradí u Aše provides insight into its original appearance. In 1678, the castle underwent expansion. A family coat of arms stone was later incorporated into the nearby Doubrava Castle.
