Kopaniny Castle
The Kopaniny Castle was built from the family of Zedtwitz. The first mentioned was in 1537. In 1678 the castle was further expanded.
Last owner of the family were Franz Josef Zedtwitz (1873-1954), Commander of the Dragoon Regiment Prince Windischgrätz in the First World War, and his son Dr. Franz Xaver Zedtwitz (1906-1942), who wrote as a writer and zoological treatises. After the war ended in 1945, the German owners were expropriated and distributed (or murdered) by the Czechs. These crimes were legalized by the Beneš decrees. In 1945 the expropriated property over to the administration of the state farm and has since been left to decay. In 2013, restoration work on the ruin began.
