The Schönborner Hof in Aschaffenburg is a Baroque residence from the 17th century. Originally conceived as a city palace for the Schönborn family, the building now houses cultural institutions and shapes Aschaffenburg's cityscape.

History+

The construction of the Schönborner Hof took place between 1673 and 1681 according to the plans of the Capuchin friar Mathias von Saarburg. It served as a city palace for Melchior Freiherr von Schönborn, the Mainz Chief Court Marshal and Vicedom, and his wife Sophia Maria Anna. The Schönborn family used the residence from 1676 to 1832. In 1832, the city of Aschaffenburg acquired the property. Initially, it served as a court and administrative building, later as an educational institution for women and a teacher training college.
