Schönecker Castle
In Münstermaifeld stands Schoeneck Castle, also known as Schoeneck Tower or Eltzer Hof. The late medieval structure is a three-story residential tower with a Renaissance oriel window.
History+
The precise ownership history of this late medieval residential tower is not fully documented. The ministerial family von Schoeneck, serving the Electorate of Trier, were the first owners and gave the building its name. Later, the castle came into the possession of the Lords of Eltz. Around 1654, the Lords of Ufflingen acquired the property. In the 16th century, the building was enhanced by the addition of a Renaissance oriel window facing the street.
