St. Andrésches Castle

The site of the current castle was once home to the Unterschloss, an earlier manor of the Grecken family, who held local dominion in Kochendorf. Between 1670 and 1677, the Barons of Saint-André acquired a portion of the town. Under Friedrich Magnus von Saint-André, the Unterschloss was demolished, and the St. Andrésche Schlösschen was erected by 1710. Above the portal, the coat of arms of Friedrich Magnus and his wife Charlotte Louise von Weiler is visible. In 1762, the builder's sons sold the property to the Odenwald Imperial Knightly Canton, which established its chancellery here.
