Church of St. George (Ротонда Свети Георги)
The Rotunda Sveti Georgi, also known as St. George Church, is an early Christian place of worship and one of the oldest structures in Sofia. It is situated amidst the archaeological remains of the ancient city of Serdica and is known for its frescoes.
History+
This sacred building was constructed by the Romans in the 4th century. It is believed that the church was built on the foundations of a former pagan temple. Several layers of frescoes were applied inside the central dome. The oldest of these murals date back to the 10th century, while frescoes from the 12th to 14th centuries adorn the dome.

St. George Church is located in the Bulgarian capital, Sofia, in the Sofia-City district, at an elevation of approximately 557 meters above sea level.
