St. John's Church in Malchin is an example of North German Brick Gothic architecture. It serves as the central church for the Evangelical-Lutheran community.

History+

The current St. John's Church was built as a replacement after a Romanesque predecessor was destroyed by fire in 1397. Originally, the church belonged to the Diocese of Cammin. It was constructed as a three-aisled basilica in the Brick Gothic style. The nave measures 42 meters in length and 22 meters in height, comprising four bays. Additionally, there is a chancel with a three-sided apse, a five-bay narthex, and a west tower. This 67-meter-high tower is not centrally placed but rises at the northwest corner in front of the northern side aisle.
